Julie Vercauteren Soprano Julie Vercauteren Soprano is a graduate of the Köln Musikhochschule, Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Conservatoire Royal de Liège. She has participated in masterclasses of excellence with renowned artists such as Sandrine Piau, Margreet Honig, Ira Siff, or recently Alan Hamilton, Helmut Deutsch and Juliane Banse.

 

Julie has already worked with conductors such as Leonardo Garcia Alarcon (Palais des Beaux- Arts), Christophe Rousset (Theater an der Wien), Jean- Marc Aymes (Marseille), Justus Thorau, Christopher Ward (Theater Aachen), or recently Julien Chauvin et le Concert de la Loge,…

 

Her Festival appearances have included Brussel’s Mozartiades, Mars en Baroque, Festival musical de Namur, Aix en Provence, Festival International d’Opéra baroque de Beaune…

Crescendo Magazine named her the perfect Headliner for her performance in Ravel’s opera L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, conducted by Otto Tausk.


Aachen Opera House has retained her as a guest soloist since 2017. She took part in L'Incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), Das schlaue Füchslein (Janacek), Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Der Zauberer von Oz (Schreier), Lazarus (Bowie), title-role of Beauty and the Beast (Glass), Manon (Massenet), Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart). She also gives for the house recitals of Lieder, Neapolitan songs and songs by Dowland.

The soprano began last season her collaboration with Liège Opera House, where we could hear her in Pauline Viardot's Le Dernier Sorcier. She completed her Belgian tour with Yes! By Maurice Yvain, with her amusing operetta character.
In France, Julie works regularly with Concerto Soave, conducted by Jean-Marc Aymes, with whom she demonstrates her knowledge in interpreting baroque operas. She sings the leading roles of Alceste (Admeto, Haendel), Apollo (Contesa de’ Numi, Caldara), title-role Dafne (Caldara) in Marseille, Proserpina (Monteverdi) in Antwerpen, une nymphe (Isis, Lully) at Theater an der Wien, and lately Volusio (Caio Fabbriccio, Hasse), in the prestigious festival Haendelfestspiel Halle.

Described as a true Mozartian voice by Klassik Centraal, Julie Vercauteren performed the role of Annio (Clemenza di tito) at the Brussels Mozartiade Festival.

The soprano is used to working closely with contemporary music composers (Michel Fourgon, Stéphane Orlando, Anno Schreier). M. Fourgon dedicated his cycle for voice and cello "le printemps le dit" to her.  She participated in the creation of the serie "The smile" by S. Orlando as well as his Noghtfalls who won the Toronto’s ”Best Perfomances” price.

We could hear her in different cities in Germany for several Liederabend, as Viersen or Köln, where her recital of Honnegger's songs was praised by the critics of Liedwelt Rheinland. She recently gave a concert venue with Eric Lesage, Franck Braley and Sandrine Piau in Namur Concert Hall.

As a complete artist, In the sacred repertoire, She sang recently Mozart's Mass in C, Saint-Saens' Christmas Oratorio, Carissimi's Jephte, Lotti's Mass in G, Fauré's Requiem, die Kronungsmesse, the famous Laudate Dominum, or recently Die Ruinen von Athen (Beethoven).

Between concerts in Germany, Belgium and France, Julie will sing the role of Proserpina at the Marseilles Opera this season, and will join Cappella Mediterranea and the Namur Chamber Choir on their world tour of Les Indes galantes, staged and choreographed by Bintou Dembele and Cie Rualité.
